At BHPS there are a range of formal and informal support programs designed to meet the needs of students.
The formal programs are recognised programs that attract either a specialist staffing allocation or funding from the Department of Education and Training.
The informal programs, such as the Read With A Peer (RAP) Program or the Catch A Falling Star (CAFS) Program, are school based programs that creatively use school resources to meet the needs of students.
The allocation of resources in all support programs* is determined by the school Learning Support Team (LST).
The LST identifies resources within the school of students and allocates these resources to best meet student’s needs.
In effect this means:
• analysis of assessment data;
• supporting students with needs that can not be met within the classroom or by other school structures eg. such as cross stage groups;
• regular monitoring of students who are placed on a special program;
• development of program evaluation strategies;
• providing support to individual teachers;
• identification of school needs; and
• accessing outside support from Sydney Region.

* Decisions regarding access to the Reading Recovery Program are made in conjunction with the district Reading Recovery Tutor.
